Spliter
I like quartering our wood into smaller pieces so that we burn a hot fire. My wife wont swing an axe so I purchased this for her. Only used on med dried cherry wood that was alread split down for a face cord. Does a good job of logs at that size, but I still prefer an axe as it's much faster. You can use it in the garage which is pretty cool...
Smartsplitter Review
As luck would have it, I (and not my husband) am the one who does most of the wood splitting at our house. I needed something that I could manage (without being dangerous or too heavy). This woodsplitter is low-tech but well-engineered. I have used it quite a bit. Getting the right size hole drilled into the base-log-stump is probably the most challenging part of set-up. The actual splitting is easy--well, you have to be sure not to use longs that are wonky (curvy) or knotty, because the splitter WILL jam. I keep a pry-bar handy. I use logs with a straight grain and things go fine. The only real critique I have is that there were 2 or 3 sets of directions in various languages, which was to be expected -- but what was odd was that there were a variety of leaflets printed in English. One leaflet was far more helpful than the others. A simple review by the marketing team (or whoever) would make this shuffle of paperwork disappear. Overall I am really happy with this device.
