I'm very happy with this grate. It works well in my fireplace, which has a heat box and is slightly larger than standard fireplaces. It holds and supports the firewood very well. I appreciated the free shipping. I would recommend this grate and purchasing from Woodland Direct to anyone.

Negative Feedback

The grate has prongs that are too far apart for a wood burning fireplace. Too much wood falls through the grate when burning wood. Therefore, I would recommend twice as many prongs. Is it possible to fill in the gaps in some way ? Do you make another insert to fill in the gaps for the grate that was purchased ??

This looks and has performed so far as a lifetime grate. It is sturdy; it sits well in the hearth; and is elevated enough to allow for air flow during burning. It is very heavy and difficult to maneuver to remove ashes. That is a chore

This is a very sturdy, heavy duty fireplace grate. It will last forever and is perfect for our large fireplace. The bars are thick and strong and it was put together as if it will be here years and years after we are gone. Another Great Product from Woodland Direct!!

Construction

Overall, this is a decently made fireplace grate with uniform bends and layout. It's clearly made in a jig; however, many of the MIG welds are not much more than tacks with left over wire still stuck to metal. That's not a big deal but it would be nice to see the use of a little more weld wire (longer welds) and remove excess unmelted weld wire for a more professional and stout looking product. Overall, it's nice and heavy enough to last a lifetime!

28" x 3/4" Iron Contoured Fireplace Grate

This is possibly the second grate purchased from your company. We use our fireplace as our main source of heat during the winter months. We don't expect the grate to last a lifetime with the heavy use, but it will last several years. It is built very sturdy and will hold several logs at a time.

Excellent fireplace grate with lifetime guarantee at a reasonable price. The larger 28 inch size is perfect for my fireplace. It appears to be well designed and manufactured. Much better than the last one I obtained from Lowe's which only lasted about 10 seasons before burning completely thru the bottom grids. Already have had many fires with it here in the NC mountains and it works fine.

Nice fireplace grate and looks like it will last forever. However, a small bonehead move on my behalf.....when measuring the grate, I focused on the width at the rear when I actually should've been measuring the front width. As a result, the grate is a bit too small for the fireplace...workable, but just a little shy. Also, I'm not sure of the height of the legs....looks a little too tall but we will see how it burns.

Excellent Grate!

I purchased the 28" wide with 8 bars. This grate is heavy duty construction, very sturdy, and holds up to large logs and HOT fires. The back slope makes it a little difficult to initially arrange the firewood in place. After I learned to put the back log on last, the self-feeder works great!

Well Made!

We've been going through grates too quickly, with even a cast iron grate breaking after two seasons. This one is very sturdy and well made... in the USA. The design keeps the burning logs moving towards the center to keep the fire going. I look forward to using this grate for a longer time than the cheap imports we've had in the past. I recommend this grate!

FP Grate and Website

We burn about three cords of wood a year in our Great Room and the thin, standard grate sold in most stores has never lasted a full year. Finding a heavier, stronger grate has been difficult until we located the Woodland website. The variety of choice is exceptional; this unit is exactly what we were looking for and we will be ordering another for our basement unit. I expect we will shop at Woodland a great deal for all our fireplace related items.

We just received this massive grate and couldn't be happier. I like the fact that it sits high in our fireplace making it easier to scoop-out the ashes. It also holds a lot of wood so you don't have to keep feeding the fire every few minutes. And, I like the curvature, new wood keeps feeding the fire itself. Buy it!!!!

Quality piece, as described, fair price

I am very please with this fireplace log holder. The product, including description, is as described. The price for a log holder with 4.5" clearance (needed for a log lighter) can be high because of the limited selection in the needed size. Woodland's price was very reasonable compared to others I priced. The only potential detractor (it wasn't for me) is the welds connecting the back legs. The legs are hollow and the weld to the curved holder exposes the hollow space in each leg. This is only apparent with the back legs so it's not anything anyone would see so no star deduction. We are very happy with this item.

Very impressed

Just got this so I can't in good conscience give it 5 flames until I can give it a good test. That said, this thing looks like a beast, and I fully expect it to last a very long time. Very happy with the purchase.

Excellent Fireplace grate

This is a great grate built for tough use. I use it from late September through to constant 60 degree plus weather. I have a large fireplace and typically have it loaded with 10 - 12 split log fire wood. These last for years and years. I am just on my 3rd one now after 25 years

Heavy duty grate

This is a very well made grate..extremely heavy duty. I've not yet used it but the design and craftmanship lead me to believe the grate will outlast me. I have used Woodland Direct's customer service on another matter and they are johnny on the spot when responding to and rectifying issues. This issue was not even their fault, it was our builder's and they went above and beyond to send a new part. Ethan is great!
