Q: Can I just stick brick directly to the unit with mortar or is there any other form of installation required? Do I need to install firebrick inside the unit or is it already to burn in? A: Brick, stacked stone, stucco, and veneers can all be placed directly to the outside of the unit. Yes, firebrick is required to burn in the fireplace, but the manufacturer's firebrick is not required and you can use your own. Most units do have optional fire brick designs for aesthetic purposes.
Q: I am using it on a pizza oven and would like to know if it is a safe material to cook food? A: Yes, FireRock mortar is safe to use in the construction of a pizza oven.
Q: Does firerock mortar come with the engineered fireplace system? A: The mortar does not come standard with this, however, it is included with the purchase of the optional installation kit.

Easy to install and looks Great!

It took an experienced masonry 30 minutes to build this fireplace (without the stacked stone) and it looks amazing. Goes together like a puzzle and definitely is a DIY fireplace if you have the time. Would highly recommend this product and the price cant be beat.

Fire rock mortar

The stuff was different than any mortar we had ever used. I am sure it does a great job but don't get it on anything you don't want black!

Good, sticky stuff. One bag was open on delivery and some had spilled out. I had enough to finish the fireplace, though.
