The stuff was different than any mortar we had ever used. I am sure it does a great job but don't get it on anything you don't want black!

Review of Fireplace kit

I was told the kit (2,700 lbs) would be on two pallets. I came on one - and a weak pallet to boot. There were cracks in some of the pieces. I had to spend extra money to repair the pieces and make them usable. The kit itself was great. Just need to ship on two pallets or at least a strong one.

Good, sticky stuff. One bag was open on delivery and some had spilled out. I had enough to finish the fireplace, though.

Great Fireplace

We purchased this fireplace for our new patio and chose it because of the arched opening. It was shipped and delivered quickly. We like having the choice to finish it with stucco or stone. No parts were found missing and assembly instructions were easy to follow. It will be the perfect gathering place under our new patio area. I recommend this fireplace and Woodland Direct. Great Fireplace

We have had this fireplace up and running for almost a month now with no issues. We had a contractor do the work, along with a lot of stone work for wood storage, a bench, and a retaining wall at the same time. A few things to consider - 1. No one seems to know which chimney topper to use with this fireplace. I purchased the Gelco Black Galvanized Single Flue Cap, Item M13500005, which fit like a glove. 2. I had to work with the contractors to ensure they followed the instructions, as they were about to install the firebrick incorrectly. 3. We didn't want a mantle, so the upper pieces were centered, which worked fine. 4. Shipping took about 3-4 weeks from time of order, the delivery driver struggled to get it off the liftgate because we live on a hill. Nothing was damaged and all pieces were included. 5. You could certainly DIY this fireplace build, but would need several people to actually stack the pieces, as they are heavy and you would need several latters. Overall, great fireplace and experience end to end. Would certainly order it again.
