The word 'large' not only describes the grandiose oak tree cast on the face of the Pennsylvania Firebacks Large Oak Cast Iron Fireback, it also appropriately describes the size and scale of this piece. Weighing in at 100 pounds, this fireback is the largest of the original designs crafted by artist J. Del Conner. When used with a pair of patented Saf-T-Boots, the Large Oak has a height of twenty-eight and a half inches which makes it an ideal choice for grand fireplaces!

Positioned against the back wall of your fireplace, this fireback will protect the masonry of the wall and radiate the heat and light of the fire out into the room. This warmth is gained whether a fireback is used with wood fires or remote controlled gas log units further adding to the flexibility of this piece. Firebacks are shipped with a water base black paint to prevent rust build up during transit. To give a brighter finish to the fireback and to protect the casting from rust after use with a fire, an application of water base graphite stove polish is recommended. Applied with a toothbrush or rag, this paste, when dry, can be polished with a wire brush or rag giving the fireback an attractive silverfish sheen.
