I would like to know what size of cap that I should order for a 12"x12" and an 8.5"x16.5" chimneys. Both of these are outside measurements.

A:
For the Draft King you'd need a 13"x13" cap for the 12"x12" flue and a 9"x18" for the 8.5"x16.5" flue. These chimney caps have adjustable tightening screws that affix them to the flues. In these cases they will tighten far enough to affix securely to flues that small.
Q:
Is there a benefit to having the mounting bolts in the corners rather than the sides?
A:
No, there is no inherent benefit to having the mounting bolts on the corners of the cap versus the sides.

Well built and easy to install
Draft King Stainless Cap
I just purchased and installed this stainless cap for a customer, but it does seem as though the solid stainless parts of the cap are quality, as well as the wire mesh portion. Easy to install and seems to be a durable stainless steel chimney cap option.

Good Cap, fast.
A good cap, quickly delivered. The four corners are askew - the four corners are slightly different heights - but who will notice 20 ft in the air (or more?).
