This worked out great for us. The only problem we had was the packing was poorly done and therefore received with one end bent downward. My husband bent back and we installed on the roof. If this had been something we looked at daily I would have returned. FYI...the box was not that damaged but you could tell it bounced around in the box quite a bit.

worried about the wind

when received one lid was not attached to the expanded metal. the other one did not appear to be spot welded eigher. I screwed the loose one together and installed them. I think the only thing holding the lid on is the paint.. thank you for your inquiery.

We needed a chimney cap (spark arrester) on a home we were selling and could not find the size anywhere. I found Woodland Direct during an online search. I wish I could remember who I spoke with because he was fantastic! Very knowledgeable about chimney caps in general and even knew specifics about requirements for California. He searched everything he could until he found one that would fit. I was concerned that it maybe wouldn't when we received it, but it went on perfectly. The quick shipping helped prevent further delays in closing escrow. Couldn't be happier!

Damaged but Replaced Cap

I was disappointed when I discovered one of the 2 chimney caps I ordered looked like it had been dropped on a corner during shipment and was very bent. But I was pleased when I contacted the Company that a substitute cap was sent, and it arrived in only a few days. Now I'm ready for Winter. I am a little concerned that upon installation that the edge of my flue doesn't extend up very high and I only hope it will stay in place in high winds.

Beautiful Top for My Chimney

This is a very nice cap, well built, but not overly heavy, making the installation easier. It makes my chimney look very regal. My chimney had a flush flue, so I had to use mounting brackets. I have a suggestion: a template should come with the cap, maybe printed on the cardboard box itself. It could show the ID and OD of the cap mounting flange so that you could position the mounting brackets on ground level before getting up on the roof. If I knew how difficult marking the places to drill the holes for the brackets I would have made my own template on the ground prior to climbing up the ladder. Also, with a template you could leave the center to cover the chimney flue so that you wouldn't need to worry about your tools and brackets falling into the chimney. Mark the bracket mounting holes and drill through the template and into the concrete. It would have made it simpler for me.

looks good up there

after many years of service the old cap finally cercomed to rust and wind. i've delt with woodland direct in the past , bought a grate that was nice and heavly constructed so i was confident the cap would be a good value too. looks like a winner to me. built well and should give me a good service life.
