Spark Screen Rod Kit Adaptability to Fireplace
I was looking forward to an easy installation and solid solution with this hard-to-find kit, but I didn't count on this system to be less quality than the existing and installed version I have. Very disappointed at the quality of metal, finishing and sloppy fit for the metal rods. I kept what I had and simply bent and pulled the existing rods out of the firebox frame, and strung the new spark screens on each side. Then bent the rods back into shape. Perfect ! Except for the waste of money. I'm sure this is a fine company that offers many great items for the fireplace, but buyer beware of this particular product. My first suggestion is to purchase your new screens, then use the existing rod system. It takes strength and a little time, but is do-able and you will save money.
The Kit
It required three shipments of the kit to finally get one that could be installed. The third kit sent had proper rod thickness AND pre-bent ends so it could just be installed - be sure to ask for the pre-bent rods when you order. The plus was customer service handled each faulty product immediately, and even sent the the third kit UPS Next Day for free. Customer service gets a 5.

Received the kit in just a few days after on-line purchase. Website was easy to use. Instructions on how to measure fireplace and then order where easy AND correct. It fit perfectly. The "pulls" for the screen were a bit on the smallish side and felt a bit flimsy. I would recommend to a friend.

Works well
We are happy with the simple screen for keeping the ashes from blowing in on a windy day. Fireplace is built exteriorly and interiorily, partially inside a sunroom.
Works Well
As stated, it works well. It was kind of a PIA for me to install in my fireplace. I have an arched stone fireplace. I had to do extensive yoga to get myself into place to install this kit. I used tapcon bolts and a tapcon drill bit for the installation. It is solidly attached now. There is no mounting hardware included in this kit. So, I suggest using tapcon bolts. They worked very well for this application.

Screen is good quality. Used my own mountings. Would be nice to have an add on magnetic closing device; be willing to pay for this.
Rod kit
The metal rod was rather thin and sagged once I hung the screen on it. Looks terrible.
Good Product
I was overall pleased with my purchase. Details about the product stated that modifications might be required. I needed a 2nd "L" bracket in order to have the center rod support at the correct height for the spark screen.My main problem was hunting up some self-tapping metal screws. Once I did the installation only took a few minutes.Everything works like its supposed to and I gave a fresh new look to my 30 year old fireplace.

Surprisingly this was much easier to sill than I thought it would be. Contrary to the installation instructions that are on the website, the ends were bent to the 90 degree angle.
Rod sags from weight of screen
The support rods are too small for the weight of the 48" screen. They hold it but sag noticeably. A larger diameter rod is needed.

Very helpful customer support. Product and samples arrived as expected. New fireplace screen install was straight forward. Functions as expected and looks great. Next step ordering a new fireplace door set for back side of fireplace.
