The top and outside of this item will get hot. You would not necessarily get burned bumping into it, but with a prolonged touch it is likely that a burn would occur.

the fire pit I purchased is functional although the outside is nothing but a pile of rust, it leached rust all over my stone patio. The picture of the patina was very nice but I did not realize it was just rust. very expensive for a steel bowl that I can't use on my patio.
