Excessive Smoke

Well constructed but unless fire is roaring at all times, very noticeable smoking. Probably due to poor airflow from very wide & flat steel support in the bed. Had to quit using it because the home began smelling like a bonfire. Switched to a rounded bar gate, that surely will melt away in a year or so, but at least the house no longer smells of smoke.

Great Experience. Highly recommended.

The process of selecting and purchasing our grate was one of the best I have experienced in a long time. A combination of a nice website for shopping along with exceptionally helpful people who will talk with you on the phone to help make sure you are getting the right product for your fireplace configuration. While we haven't used it yet, this grate seems indestructible--especially compared the typical products we have used in the past. Lifetime warranty to back that.

quality Control

No quality control. Ground off sharp ends that were pinched. Measured and ground uneven legs and then added a small plate to one leg to make it sit flat.

Came with a surprise warranty disclaimer

I thought I was buying the highest quality, with solid warranty. When it arrived, it had a warning glued to it, saying you have to keep ashes away from the bottom support rails, else they may get too hot, melt and void the warranty. Not what I consider right, for the money I paid. I'll use it and see what happens, but I would choose another brand next time.
