My screen was custom sized to my opening. the screen looks good and is a good fit. The base/feet should have been made larger as the screen does not stand on it's own with the doors open. the weight makes it lean forward on the doors. heavier, larger legs would have been appropriate.

This is an excellent product. It really finished the appearance of our outdoor fireplace nicely, and protects the furniture from sparks. Great quality, sturdy construction, arrived completely boxed and crated, so no damage in shipment. I highly recommend this design because the doors open smoothly, and provide access to tend the fire and the magnets keep doors secure when closed. Installation was very easy with the exception that I wish I had ordered the inner dimension 1/4 to 1/2 inch smaller, because the bricks were not of smooth surface and I had to grind edges off of several bricks to make it fit flush. Perhaps the sales people can ask customers about the type of brick when orders are placed. I did use the two metal bars provided to bolt the screen in place at the bottom and that worked well. Perhaps the design should consider also two clamps that allow flush mounting at the top to by clamping around the inside of the brick surround. Overall very satisfied with this product, have enjoyed many fires and received compliments on the design and appearance of the screen. I rate it a 4 assuming 5 is the top score.

Rate the finish on the single panel as a very professional application with no flaws, runs or dimpling. Finish on panel is smooth to the touch & was well protected from damage during shipment by the amazingly careful packaging it which it arrived. Company took extra precautions to insure the finish wouldn't be damaged by rough handling in transit

Wire mesh

This 3rd component of the single panel fire screen we ordered demonstrates high caliber material & workmanship. The mesh is very rigid & strong with a nice smooth finish . The frame that it is encased in is of the same high quality construction & finish. The mesh does not bend & is well installed in it's frame (no jagged edges protruding, etc). Likewise, the frame is rigid & smooth to the touch so cleaning the whole unit will be easy & with no risk of being scratched or poked by sharp edges. Again a high rating for the care that went into fabricating it to the exact dimensions of the custom panel made specifically for our fireplace opening.

Hearth screen

We could not be happy with the Hearth screen we had mad by Woodland Direct. We purchased and older home and did a major remodel including completely refurbishing the wood burning fireplace. The hearth is so large that our only option was a custom screen. It turned out beautiful and we could not be happier with the product. Thank you!!

Gorgeous screen, screwy hardware

Exactly what we wanted style-wise. Elegant, simple, beautiful quality materials. But on one side the holes weren't drilled in the right place so we couldn't properly screw on one of the feet. Not worth the hassle to send back so we will live with it, but given the high price for a custom piece, it is frustrating.

We like it. The size is right. It balances well. The only unexpected- I was seeking a finish with some gray in it and the color I chose appeared to have that, and to have a little variation in the finish color. The screen I received is more of a brown tone and no variation. But it looks fine. I'd suggest your color samples may not be true. At least the one I chose. Just FYI.

Custom screen

I Love my new custom built screen, it's made with quality and attention to detail. Jason, in C/S worked with me through many emails to select what works best for my very odd sized gas fireplace. After looking at doors I decided a glass fronted screen was best. The selection process was easy and the end product arrived on time and in perfect condition. Quality materials were used and the packing of the product was superior.

Good product/service

Ordered a custom fireplace screen from Woodland. A series of hard to believe errors by the manufacturer and the shipper slowed delivery a bit, but Woodland staff were very responsive and did what I expected a professionally managed firm to do. At the end of the day, the product is exactly what we wanted and we would certainly order from Woodland again.

Factory production error

My screen looked beautiful. Unfortunately there was a production mistake and the screen could not be secured in my fireplace. In addition, the threads for the bolts to attach the feet were not made perpendicular to the screen. The good news is that it is being replaced at no charge to me. Lauren, a customer service rep, was fantastic both prior to and after the purchase.

Very nice screen

The screen itself looks great. My issue is that on one of the doors the hinge is bent. It still works but getting it into the slot it belongs is a little challenging. Also, the screws and most of the assembly parts that were included were loose in the box. Fortunately they didn't fall out but I had to be careful when throwing out the packing material since I found half of the items in between the cardboard.

Great Screen Doors!

This is a great custom screen door. Much higher quality than I expected. The perforated mesh looks really nice, and it has STRONG magnets to hold the doors shut. The attachment brackets it comes with did not fit my application, so I used 100% silicone, to attach it to the brick by putting silicone on the brick, then putting the frame on. I used temporary clamps to hold it tight while the silicone dried. This left a very clean finish. With no visible brackets, or silicone squeeze out. Highly recommend this method and product.

Review measurements

To start, this fireplace screen is well made. I'm not sure the value is there, though. Over $1100 is a lot to drop for this product. The website says to measure your opening and add 1" to both the width and height dimensions. The width works well when doing this, but not the height. You are supposed to be able to anchor the screen under the lentil with long screws, but when you add an inch, the holes to attach the screws are actually above the lentil, making it impossible to use them. I had to come up with an alternative way to secure it, but it wasn't easy. If measuring again, I would drop at least half an inch from the height.

Oversized custom

We ordered a custom oversized screen. The product seems of high quality however the legs of the screen are not large enough for the custom oversized screen. Needs to be larger sturdier legs.

Classic fireplace screen with doors

This fireplace screen is well built and appears to be very durable. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. I wish that sizing details were more specific. I opted for a fixed permanent installation. More detail would have made fixed installation easier. The frame of this fireplace has a pair of nuts on the frame back that are used to attach brackets to secure it to the fireplace. The location of these nuts on the frame should be inside the fireplace opening.

Beautiful and well made, but product description seriously lacking

The screen is beautiful and seems really well made. No complaints there. Based on that alone, I’d give it 5 stars. Our issue is that because of the way the doors are hinged, they need like 3/4“of clearance on the back in order to open. This is no problem if your fireplace opening goes all the way to the hearth that the screen is sitting on. But ours doesn’t… the fireplace box sits about 4” off of our hearth, so our fireplace surround forms a picture frame all the way around the opening. This means that the doors were hitting the lower panel of the surround when we opened them. My husband is handy and was able to get the screen to sit about 3/4” off the face of our fireplace, but it was a hassle and doesn’t look as good as it would have sitting flush to the fireplace. The product description gives no indication that the doors need this sort of clearance. Pretty disappointed we paid so much for something that had to be altered to get to work with our setup. But again, if your fireplace opening goes all the way down to the hearth, I’d highly recommend this screen.

Classic fireplace screen with doors

When we ordered the Classic fireplace screen with doors, it was after extensive searching and evaluating on line. Our expectations were exceeded in every way! Great Quality

Fireplace came - great quality - looks great - lost 1 star as the magnets supplied for closure are not rare earth and cannot withstand heat so they lose their hold after 1 or 2 burns and doors do not stay shut. Had to go buy some neodymium magnets myself to make it right.
