The chill buster vent free see thru fireplace is great. We start it up and close the rest of the house off and you are tosted in no time.

Pilot flame does not intersect the thermocouple.

The fixed position pilot nozzle is not angled toward the thermocouple, therefore the pilot flame will not adequately heat the thermocouple. Heat rises, so the tip of the pilot flame naturally bends upward - away from the thermocouple! Even after adjusting the pilot flame to 2", it just bearly touches the tip of the thermocouple. Consequently, the pilot and burner need repeated lighting.

This was the only vent less double sided log set which would fit in our firebox so we didn't have much choice. The flames are fairly small and the appearance depends to a great extent on a lot of the fake ember material. There is a single log which sits diagonally across the base logs which doesn't look great because it leaves a large open unnatural looking space between the logs. Heat output is ok....not as good as a vented set which it replaced. Ordering was quick and easy and service was very good.

Great purchase! Fast shipping from Woodlanddirect and the product is GREAT. Installed it first as vented, then switched to non-vented after installing a CO detector. NO CO detected and being non-vented it really warms the rooms. Very realistic, simple to operate, and a great addition. Highly recommended.
