Looks good, but chars easily

This is the second time I have bought this rug because it fits my hearth perfectly, I like the look, and I need to protect the finish on my hearth. However, I am not sure what “fire-resistant “ means. When we opened the doors to tend the fire and a spark hit the rug, it immediately got a big, melted black spot, ugly enough that I threw the rug away.
