Spark resistant rug

Love the color and the fact that it lays flat without standing on it.I haven't seen a spark hit it yet but I'm sure it is only a matter of time with frequent fireplace usage.

Very happy and satisfied with the product and the timeliness in which my order was handled.

We have patterned wall to wall carpet, so had to get a plain colored rug, and the choices were limiting. It is 100% functional, just not a great color match for us.

just what I wanted

I bought this to protect the hardwood floors in front of my fireplace insert. So far it has not had to endure the test of sparks and embers, but I do believe that it will handle them very well. It is a good heavy rug. I bought the brown, it has a bit of a tweedy look so it blends better than expected with my beige and brown room.

I am very satisfied with the hearth rug. I has saved my hardwood floor from ashes and trash from wood. It cleans up easily with vacuum. Would buy again if need arises.

Fiberglass hearth rug

Rug doesn't seem worth the money. Very thin but will probably not scorch. Didn't match the color shown. I wanted a dark brown, the rug I got was sort of a drab, gray brown. I didn't want to take the trouble of sending it back, so I ended up spray painting it and it looks OK, now. I don't recommend it.

Rectangle Hearth Rug

We use our fireplace daily and wanted a fireplace rug that would protect our new hardwood flooring. Decided to purchase the fiberglass rectangular rug and are very pleased that we did. The size was adequate to cover our concens for sparks and protection. Highly recommend this rug.

We have had coals fall on our rug with out any evidence of burning except the edging, which melts. It does gather dust and generally looks unsightly, but I had read the same in reviews. I bought it to save my wood floors, so it is completely effective.

Great rug. Works excellent and protects your floor as advertised. Embers do not ignite it. Could have been a bit cheaper but it is good quality for sure.

Fiberglass rug

The rug is holding up great, I wish the edging was fiberglass because it is showing signs of burning but the rug is unfazed by hot coals. I wish you had more choices than plain, a pattern woulf be great.

This rug is adequate for my needs. It is very thin, hard and not really that fancy. It does the job. I've had embers fall on it, and it just discolors a bit, no burning, etc.

Hearth Rug

I deducted one star because it was a little difficult to make the ends lay flat. Solved by weighting them down for a while. Perhaps if the rug was rolled in a reversed manner it would lay better immediately.

Great burn protection

There are only three choices for fireplace mats: Wool, Fiberglass, and everything else. Wool is considered to be the best protection (I don't agree), Fiberglass second, and everything else third. Wool is beautiful, comes in many designs and colors, and is available in many shapes and sizes. The everything else includes Olefin and other synthetics which melt when a hot coal falls on them. These are generally cheap so if you want them to remain good looking, be prepared to replace them often if you have lots of popping out of your fireplace. Wool chars and while it comes in many colors, designs, shapes and sizes, these are generally expensive. Since it chars, it also won't look too good after many hits. The char marks can be brushed to reduce (but not eliminate) the stain and if not caught quickly, a wool mat may have to be replaced sooner than may be comfortable for your wallet. But they do look really nice. Fiberglass doesn't burn or melt. The backing may melt if a buring coal is left on them but that can be tolerated. Unfortunately, the style options seem to be limited to half round or rectangular and any color you want as long as it is solid with no pattern or design and comes from the 5 or 6 choices. All that said, the Fibergalss rug, for us, is perfect. The color fits our decor, the size is excellent for our large fireplace and it lays flat. One reviewer was annoyed that it didn't lay flat out of the box Uh, it is rolled for shipping! Of course it won't lay flat but I reversed the roll on ours and left it for about 20 minutes. It lay perfectly flat. This is a great rug which provides maximum protection and is at a very reasonable price point.
