This fireplace grate arrived quickly and safely. It was heavy and sturdy as I was expecting. It is very high quality and I anticipate it will last a lifetime.

This product is as substantial as advertised. We use our fireplace throughout the winter to the extent that the metal on our prior fireplace grate melted leaving a hole in the center of the fireplace grate. Thus far this fireplace grate has no sign of melting or any other defect.

Great Item

The temperature outside in Cleveland today is -9 degrees and I'm getting ready to build a fire. One thing I'm not going to worry about is the fireplace grate. Grates that I've bought at the big box retailers don't even last a year before bending. I know the grate from Woodland Direct will last a lifetime. Customer service is great, fast shipping, got it within a few days even during heavy holiday rush.

Nice Fire Grate

This grate has 1"wide x1/2" thick grates which make it very sturdy. It also has a center set of feet to fend off the grate sag that can often happen with heat. I gave it 5 stars as it is exactly what the specifications say it is. I regularly burn wood on weekends in winter, so I hope this grate will hold up as advertised. I've only had the grate a week, so it's early, but I'm optimistic about this grate's performance. It holds a good (normal) course of logs, so you won't have to worry about babying this with twigs. Shipping arrived within a couple of days and ahead of the scheduled time. That's always a nice surprise!

Exactly as shown with proper dimensions. Works great and built to last.

Product arrived very poorly packaged. Grate was poking out of two of the box’s sides. Upon inspection, the paint finish was very uneven — several scuff marks throughout the piece. Structural integrity seems adequate; cosmetic presentation is below par. Expected better appearance for the price.

customer service and warranty

The good news is the grate is well made and heavy. We had our first fire on Christmas and there was no air flow issues with the 8 flat steel bars. I initially ordered the 28 inch fireplace grate for $119 online. Then I found an "identical" 28 inch for $139 and it was heavier. There had to be a reason. I called customer service (who's recording stated world class customer service) immediately after placing the order and talked to a rep and cancelled the $119 grate and substituted the $139 grate. It appeared that the more expensive grate had higher prongs in the front and back and weighed 36 pounds as opposed to 30 pounds. No problem I thought until the $119 grate arrived with the feet sticking out of the busted box. An email from customer service said they were not able to remove the $119 from being shipped but the $139 was on its way and all I had to do was return the $119. After complaining about the mix up and hassle of returning, she agreed to send a shipping label to UPS and they would come pick it up. And that happened after my repacking. My impression is not world class customer service or ordering service, but it got done with fairly minimal effort. The product listing is confusing which caused my original order of the $119 grate. Also I went with the Lifetime Warranty type only to find that the warranty is very limited and only contained in the packaging and not the web site. It states that if you let the coals build up to touch the grate the warranty is void. Also you are limited to moderate fires and every fire cleaning of the fireplace. So the product description of Lifetime Warranty is misleading and it is very limited. How could any customer challenge the Company and win if the grate fails?

I can't imagine a better fit. With its extra space underneath and the low angled bars, it's the perfect fit for my fireplace. Plus, it's as sturdy as an ox.

Grate

So far we love our new grate. We’re hoping that it will last a long time. All of our other grates weren’t as expensive and didn’t even last a year without breaking. We’ll see if it passes the time test.

Grate that looks to meet the needs

Out old grate had much smaller iron. It had heated up and bent all the way the ground in the middle. This grate is much thicker and has stands in the middle. I see it holding up better than our old grate. It also is higher and throws the heat into the room much better. My wife and I are happy with this purchase.

Great Grate

I have only had about 8 fires on the 28-inch Lifetime Fireplace Grate - 1-inch Steel, but it seems to be holding up well. It is definitely the best I have had. I will give my thoughts again after a good season of burning. As of this very moment, I would recommend this grate.
